Architects Noel Bell Ridley Smith & Partners used Panel Tech's Horizontal Cladding
system in Colour prepainted steel in the building design to give the Tafe college a slick new look.
Project architect, Robert McNamara said "The building is the first in a major redevelopment of the Nowra Campus
aiming to lift the profile of the Illawarra Institute of Technology.
The steel sandwich
panels run along the top of the brick masonry wall into the foyer, out the side into a sculptural wall and feature
on one side wall of the building." |

McNamara says "The panels manufactured in Sydney by Panel Tech Industries are a technology
development which revolutionised insulated building panels design and manufacture about 10 years ago.
Steel sandwich panels consist of a fire retardant polystyrene core bonded between two sheets of steel for great
aesthetics and thermal efficiency. The panels have excellent insulation properties and are a very cost effective
building system. The end result is a very pleasing one with which the TAFE college and the local community is very
happy." |
